sometimes its good, sometimes its shit & sometimes, it just is.

The Fruits of Our Labor...

this weekend joe & i did an amazing amount of work in the yard. We planted 40 bushes, 10 native day lilies, 5 painted daisies, a couple peonies, and some random bulbs and plants that we no longer can identify. We also thinned out the hostas and planted them around each of the trees in the main yard. We were so pleased with ourselves that we called around to nurseries to see if they could deliver a truckload of mulch that afternoon. They could and just needed to know what kind of mulch we wanted. I said the cheapest, natural, no dye mulch. Simple right?
Well, it is. Its quite simple. We simply have a big ol' pile of smelly mulch now... Evidently one should not select the cheapest, natural, no dye mulch. Especially when ordering a truckload. And here we were so pleased with our efficiency... Oh, well. In smaller quantities it doesn't smell so much and it does look lovely around the trees, bushes, and anything else I could think to put it around. I have a feeling that this may be much better for my weeds than I intended.

anyhow, it was a lovely weekend and now Joe is out of town for the week. we miss him so much. Nora just started calling him Papa right before he left and about broke his heart with her cuteness.

edit to update: it's snowing?!?!?! now that really is some shit.
edited again: to add picture showing some of our work and a whole bunch of dandelions :P
